Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is the world's fastest-growing plant and has an excellent ability to sequester carbon. Unlike trees that can take decades to mature, bamboo regenerates quickly, allowing for annual harvesting and continuous carbon sequestration. This ensures a consistent and renewable approach to carbon offsetting, making it more effective over the long term compared to traditional methods.

How is the carbon offset verified?

We use Isometric as third-party verification to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the carbon sequestration figures, giving our customers confidence in the impact of their investment. Buyers pay a flat fee to Isometric to verify our impact  to avoid a conflict of interest.

How much carbon will be removed annually?

One hectare of our bamboo forest will roughly store 25 tons of CO₂ per year, providing a significant and ongoing reduction in atmospheric carbon.

How does this contribute to local communities?

19% of profits go into community endowment. Our bamboo forests also provide jobs, restore habitats, improve water storage, and contribute to local ecological health, offering significant benefits to surrounding communities.

Do you intend to plant monocultures?

No, we do not plant monocultures. Our approach involves mixed-species forests, where a maximum of 50% of plants are non-invasive clumping bamboo. This helps maintain biodiversity and supports ecological balance.

What measures are in place if the bamboo forest is affected by natural disasters?

Panama is outside of the hurricane area, so natural disasters such as hurricanes do not reach Panama. Nevertheless, we ensure there is always a percentage of carbon credits stored in a buffer pool as insurance for unexpected disasters, providing extra security for the lifetime carbon removal commitment. Additionally, our reforestation strategy includes planting a mix of bamboo and native species to enhance resilience against various environmental challenges.

How does bamboo compare to traditional reforestation in terms of carbon sequestration?
